Deborah began painting with Peter Blos of Munich, Germany (1903-1986) in the San Francisco Bay Area as a girl of fourteen years of age until her marriage (see Self Portrait by Peter Blos). Deborah first met landscape painter Ray Strong after discovering biographies of both Peter Blos and Ray Strong in the book; Artists and People by Yvonne Greer Thiel.
